In Latvia, a woman named Diana Mosure experienced a tragic incident when her dog Juki suffered an epileptic seizure during the night, revealing a significant gap in emergency veterinary services. Despite reaching out to various veterinary clinics across the country, she discovered that only veterinary staff in Riga were available to respond. Following her dog's death, Diana took initiative by filing a petition with the Daugavpils municipality for the provision of emergency veterinary services during nighttime hours, but her request was denied due to a lack of local veterinarians willing to work nights and the municipality's legal inability to fund such services. Diana aims for all residents to have access to veterinary assistance within an hour and a half, emphasizing the importance of timely help in critical situations.
