Sentenced to 9 years in prison for abusing his three-year-old daughter and infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease

A man in Mallorca has been sentenced to nine years in prison for sexually abusing his three-year-old daughter and infecting her with gonorrhea.

The Provincial Court of Palma has sentenced a man living in Mallorca to nine years in prison for sexually abusing his own daughter, who is only three years old, and notably, contaminating her with a sexually transmitted infection, gonorrhea. Initially, the prosecution had requested a 15-year prison sentence, but the court opted for a shorter sentence while also mandating the convicted individual to pay 20,000 euros in damages to the victim.

In the ruling reported by Europa Press, judges from the Second Section of the highest judicial instance in the Balearic Islands confirmed that the man, who was aware of being a carrier of the disease, transmitted it to his daughter during a bath they shared. The young girl required medical treatment for nearly a year, highlighting the severe impact of the abuse not only on her physical health but also on her psychological well-being.

The court emphasized that the accused was fully aware that his actions were not only criminal but also 'palpably reckless,' given the significant risk associated with transmitting an infection to a minor. In response to the ruling, the defense has stated their intent to appeal the decision, which indicates that this case may continue to unfold as legal counsel seeks a different outcome through higher courts.
