The Lithuanian Central Electoral Commission has initiated an investigation into the financing practices of the political party 'Nemuno Aušra' following information received from various institutions and party members.
The Lithuanian Central Electoral Commission (VRK) commenced an investigation on January 29 regarding the financing of the political party 'Nemuno Aušra.' This decision was informed by responses received from relevant institutions and certain members of the party itself. The investigation is set to assess various aspects of the party's financing, including support received through third parties, which raises questions about transparency and legal compliance in political funding practices.
Additionally, the VRK has reached out to the General Prosecutor's Office to seek permission to review materials from an ongoing pre-trial investigation that may provide crucial information for the commission's inquiry.
