On Tuesday morning, NYPD Harbor Unit officers encountered an injured bald eagle floating on a slab of ice in the Hudson River while on routine patrol. The officers heard the cries of the stranded eagle at approximately 9:27 a.m. and immediately maneuvered their vessel through the icy waters to reach the bird. Bodycam footage revealed the tense moment as they approached the eagle, showcasing the officers' commitment to the rescue.

Eventually, the officer managed to secure the eagle, wrapping it in a yellow tarp, and lifting it into the boat. The eagle was then covered with a blanket and placed in a pet carrier for its safe transportation to receive further care.
