Baby abandoned to die inside scorching hot 60C car while mum went to get lip filler
A mother left her one-year-old baby in a hot car for over two hours while she went to a spa for lip filler treatment, resulting in the infant's death.
In a tragic incident in Bakersfield, California, Maya Hernandez, a 20-year-old mother, left her one-year-old son, Amillio Gutierrez, in a parked car while she visited a spa for a cosmetic procedure. The temperatures outside were extremely high, exceeding 37°C (60°F), yet Hernandez left her children unattended in the vehicle, believing the air conditioning was sufficient to keep them cool. Unfortunately, the car's engine and air conditioning switch off automatically after one hour, which occurred while she was away for more than two and a half hours.
When Hernandez returned, she discovered her son foaming at the mouth and experiencing seizures due to heat exposure. Despite emergency medical assistance, Amillio later died from the heat-related conditions. This horrifying incident raises significant concerns regarding parental responsibility and the dangerous realities of leaving children unattended in vehicles, especially during scorching summer months when temperatures can escalate quickly.
The case is now being handled by prosecutors, who are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The community in Bakersfield is in shock, and discussions around child safety and the dangers of hot cars are more critical than ever, aiming to prevent such tragedies in the future.
