The National Crime Agency (NCA) has reported a surge in child sex abuse cases in the UK, revealing that roughly 1,000 suspected paedophiles are being arrested monthly. This alarming trend signals a worsening crisis, as it also comes with a significant increase in the number of children being rescued from potential harm—a rise of 50% over the past five years. Rob Jones, director of NCA's general operations, highlighted the role of technology in this increase, emphasizing how modern tools have made it easier for offenders to connect with and exploit vulnerable children online.

Jones pointed out that the evolution of social media has allowed abusers to find each other on platforms where they can share tactics and identify potential victims.
