Reports from the Military Police indicate that the husband, aged 31, allegedly assaulted the victim by slamming her head against a toilet multiple times, leading to her death from the injuries sustained.

Following the assault, the perpetrator attempted to flee the scene on a bicycle but was apprehended a short time later in Cataguases, a nearby city located approximately 24 kilometers from Astolfo Dutra. Surveillance footage from a neighbor documented his exit from the residence at around 4:46 am. The swift response of the police resulted in the husband's arrest, highlighting the pressing issues of domestic violence prevalent in the region.

The Civil Police's forensic team arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
