Roll-over on BR-163 leaves one man dead and a woman injured in Santarém
A roll-over accident on BR-163 in Santarém, Brazil, claimed the life of a 32-year-old man and left a woman injured early Wednesday morning.
In the early hours of Wednesday, February 18, a severe traffic accident occurred in Santarém, western Pará, where a vehicle rolled over and fell into a ravine along BR-163. The deceased was identified as Caíque Nascimento de Jesus, 32, who was reportedly driving the car when he lost control, collided with a tree, and subsequently plunged down the ravine. Emergency services including the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU), Fire Department, and Military Police were called to the scene. Upon arrival, they found that the driver had already succumbed to his injuries.
Lieutenant Fhelipe Emidio, from the 3rd BPM, reported that rescue teams provided immediate support but unfortunately, the driver could not be saved. The preliminary investigation indicates that a loss of control was the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the passenger, who is the partner of the deceased, was rescued and reported to be alive despite the circumstances surrounding the incident, indicating serious injuries that required medical attention.
