Polish services thwarted illegal transport of 23 tons of waste. It comes from Germany
Polish authorities recently intercepted a truck attempting to illegally transport 23 tons of plastic waste from Germany to Poland.
On February 18, the Lower Silesian National Revenue Administration announced the interception of an illegal transport of 23 tons of waste. The truck driver was stopped for control on the A4 highway, where officials explained that the National Revenue Administration (KAS) thwarted an attempt to bring shredded plastic materials into Poland. The truck was fully loaded with trash, signaling a larger issue regarding illegal waste transport across borders.
The successful interception occurred during checks conducted by the Customs and Tax Service near Jędrzychowice in the Lower Silesia Voivodeship. The Provincial Inspectorate of Environmental Protection (WIOŚ) declared the transport to be illegal movement of waste, raising alarms about environmental regulations being violated. Such illegal transports not only pose risks to Poland's ecological integrity but also highlight cross-border challenges in waste management between countries like Germany and Poland.
In light of this incident, the KAS mentioned significant penalties for those caught engaging in such activities, with fines ranging from 10,000 to 1 million PLN. This harsh punishment aims to deter illegal waste transport and enforce stricter adherence to environmental protection laws, serving as a warning to others involved in similar unethical practices.
