Schillerová presents a new form of EET

The proposal introduced by the minister is set to undergo a consultation process aimed at minimizing exceptions and combating the grey economy and tax evasion.

The Czech Minister has unveiled a new proposal for Electronic Registration of Sales (EET), which aims to streamline its implementation and reduce exceptions. This initiative seeks to combat the grey economy and minimize tax evasion, as the government aims to enhance the effectiveness of this fiscal tool. Previous iterations of the EET were operational from 2016 until 2020, but the program was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ultimately abolished in January 2023.

The proposed changes are expected to be submitted for consultation, allowing stakeholders to provide their input before the finalization of the new EET framework. The government is hopeful that reinstating EET in this modified format will increase compliance among businesses and provide a more substantial revenue stream for public finances. By reducing the scope for exceptions, the new policy intends to create a level playing field for all businesses, encouraging fair competition.

As the proposal progresses through the necessary procedures, its impact on the Czech economy and the response from various business sectors will be closely monitored. The outcome of this initiative could have significant implications for how fiscal policies are structured in the future, particularly in relation to managing the balance between regulations and business freedoms, especially in the recovery phase post-pandemic.
