Men's pair also failed: M. Vaičiulis and T. Strolia did not qualify in the team sprint

Lithuanian athletes M. Vaičiulis and T. Strolia failed to qualify in the men's team sprint event, finishing in 21st place overall after the qualification round.

Lithuanian athletes Modestas Vaičiulis and Tautvydas Strolia participated in the qualification round of the men's team sprint, competing in two stages. Vaičiulis was the first to race, completing the 1.5 km course in a time of 3 minutes and 4.27 seconds, which placed him 20th among the first group of competitors. Strolia followed, finishing with a time of 3 minutes and 12.97 seconds. Together, they ended in 21st place overall after surpassing teams from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Romania, Argentina, Hungary, and Kazakhstan.

The qualification format required each member of the pair to race separately, with their times combined to determine their overall ranking. Unfortunately, despite their strong performance, the duo did not make it to the finals, as only the top 15 pairs advanced. This outcome not only indicates a missed opportunity for the athletes but also reflects the competitive nature of the sprint event, where only the best can progress to the final heats.

Earlier in the day, another Lithuanian pair, Eglė Savickaitė and Ieva Dainytė, also competed in the women's team sprint qualification, emphasizing the broader participation of Lithuanian teams in this year’s competitions. The results highlight both the challenges faced by Lithuanian athletes on the international stage and their ability to compete with some of the best teams from around the world, despite not qualifying for the final round.
