In the P. Isoda "checks" case, a request is made to conduct an investigation into the evidence
The Lithuanian Court of Appeals is set to review evidence in the case against P. Isoda, where the prosecution is appealing his previous acquittal.
This case, initiated by the prosecution's complaint, is being heard by the Lithuanian Court of Appeals in Vilnius. P. Isoda, accompanied by lawyer Giedrius Danėlius, attended the court hearing where the prosecutor from the Kaunas District Prosecutor's Office, Darius Valkavičius, stated that a request for an investigation into the evidence had already been submitted in an earlier complaint. The decision on whether to conduct this investigation will be announced by a panel of three judges in one month, specifically on March 18.
The background of the case dates back to August of last year when the Kaunas District Court acquitted P. Isoda of the charges against him. However, the prosecution, represented by Valkavičius, has lodged an appeal seeking to overturn the acquittal. Valkavičius is asking the court to find Isoda guilty on three counts: abuse of power, fraud, and document forgery, and is also requesting a fine of €15,000 and a four-year ban on holding public office for Isoda.
The case highlights significant legal proceedings in Lithuania and raises questions regarding the implications of the court's decisions on the prosecution's credibility and the severity of the alleged crimes. As the appeal unfolds, the legal community and public will likely closely monitor the outcome and any potential effects on related cases or public trust in legal institutions.
