Lithuania is preparing to create a comprehensive plan aimed at combating disinformation and manipulation, with a target completion date set for this autumn. This initiative responds to increasing concerns over misinformation, particularly in the context of global challenges. The plan's development will be coordinated by a working group that comprises members from various state institutions, all of whom are directly involved in addressing and managing the challenges posed by disinformation.

The working group is led by Deputy Minister of Culture Viktoras Denisenko, who emphasizes the importance of relying on international best practices in formulating strategies against disinformation. Interestingly, while many countries are grappling with this issue, only Ireland and Norway have established distinct strategies to counter disinformation, making Lithuania's initiative noteworthy within the region. This highlights a growing recognition among governments of the need for strategic approaches to safeguard against false narratives and information manipulation.

Once the plan is finalized, it will transition into the implementation phase. This step is crucial as it aims to actively engage various stakeholders and the public in enhancing resilience against disinformation.
