Economic and Innovation Minister Visits India: Strengthening Partnership in the Field of Artificial Intelligence

The Lithuanian Minister of Economy and Innovation, E. Grikšas, is visiting India to discuss AI development and strengthen strategic partnerships in technology and trade.

E. Grikšas, the Minister of Economy and Innovation of Lithuania, is on a visit to India aimed at enhancing collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). During this trip, he will meet with Shri Jitin Prasada, India's Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, and participate in the event 'India AI Tech Reception' which focuses on discussing the directions of India's AI development. The minister emphasized that this visit presents an opportunity to contribute to the global AI agenda while also bolstering ties with strategic partners in technology, innovation, and trade.

The visit occurs at a time when economic relations between the European Union and India are becoming increasingly robust. Grikšas is also set to take part in a significant event concerning 'Women’s Digital Empowerment in AI, the Digital Economy & Cybersecurity,' organized by the Lithuanian Embassy in collaboration with India's Data Security Council. This highlights Lithuania's commitment to not only engaging in AI discussions but also promoting gender inclusivity in the growing digital economy.

Moreover, the minister will attend the Lithuania National Day celebration in New Delhi, where he will deliver a welcoming speech. According to the ministry's data, the bilateral trade turnover between Lithuania and India reached 277.5 million euros in 2025, with exports accounting for 99.1 million euros. This visit underlines the importance of ongoing dialogues and partnerships in the rapidly evolving area of artificial intelligence, further strengthening Lithuania's position within the global tech landscape and enhancing bilateral relations with India.
