R. Žemaitaitis changed his mind again regarding the Kapčiamiesčio polygon

Lithuanian politician R. Žemaitaitis expressed skepticism over the Kapčiamiesčio polygon claims and upcoming meetings with the Ministry of National Defence.

R. Žemaitaitis, a Lithuanian politician, recently commented on the ongoing discussions regarding the planned Kapčiamiesčio polygon, indicating a lack of support from the 'Nemuno aušros' faction. He stated that the faction would meet with the Minister of National Defence, Robertas Kaunas, next week to further discuss the issue. The concerns raised focus on the compensation amounts proposed by the Ministry for the property owners affected by the military training areas.

Žemaitaitis expressed his astonishment at the vague figures presented regarding compensation, which he argued were not clearly defined. He pointed out that the confusing information disseminated could erode the trust of the Seimas members in the Ministry of National Defence's intentions regarding the polygon project. He emphasized that continual uncertainties and lack of concrete data would only further undermine support among lawmakers.

The Ministry of National Defence had introduced compensation proposals last week, but Žemaitaitis remains doubtful about their actual efficacy and transparency. He questioned the legitimacy and clarity of the policies and called attention to the potential for increasing divisiveness within the society, as insufficient clarity could fuel public unrest and skepticism towards governmental initiatives.
