Surprise announcement! Ile Uusivuori starts a new job

Ile Uusivuori will host a new morning radio show on Radio City alongside Mikko Honkanen.

Ilkka "Ile" Uusivuori is set to join Radio City as a co-host for their new morning program, partnering with fellow radio host Mikko Honkanen. Bauer Media Audio's program director Osku Nurmi expressed excitement over their duo, suggesting that their quick wit and humor combined with the best rock music will provide an appealing option for rock music lovers during morning hours. Their first broadcast is scheduled for Monday, March 2nd.

The current morning hosts, Samuel Nyman and Jere Jääskeläinen, will transition to focusing solely on sports content as per the announcement, marking a significant shift in the programming lineup. Uusivuori is well-known in the Finnish entertainment scene, particularly for hosting the popular show Masked Singer, and he previously worked at YleX until 2015. Since then, he has appeared more frequently as a television host, while also filling in on Radio Nova shows during the summer months.

This new role marks a notable return for Uusivuori to radio, where he has previously made a name for himself. His experience and familiarity with the radio landscape are expected to bring a fresh perspective to the morning show, which aims to solidify Radio City’s standing in a competitive radio environment. With the change, listeners can expect an engaging mix of humor and music to accompany their mornings in Finland.
