Karolin Jüris's body double: as a top cyclist, I have gotten used to falling
Liisi Alamaa, Karolin Jüris's body double in the film 'Our Erika', shares her experiences of working on set and her background as a former professional cyclist.
In a recent interview on the Estonian show 'Ringvaade', Liisi Alamaa, who portrays the body double for Karolin Jüris in the film 'Our Erika', discussed her experiences during filming. Alamaa noted that putting on the mask took an hour and was worn throughout the entire shooting day. Notably, she also mentioned that she fell during the last shooting day, but as a former elite cyclist, she was accustomed to such falls, having experienced them multiple times in her career.
Alamaa reflected on her journey that led her to work as a body double for Jüris after meeting director German Golub in 2018. When Golub learned of her cycling background, especially her experience in track cycling from childhood, he invited her to take on the role. Alamaa's cycling expertise allowed her to assist in performing various riding scenes, further underlining her qualifications for the job.
While discussing the challenges faced during filming, Alamaa pointed out that one of Jüris's struggles was the endurance needed to repeatedly ride on the track and perform scenes. To accommodate this, she would step in to perform certain scenes, allowing Jüris necessary breaks. This collaborative spirit showcases the behind-the-scenes efforts required to accurately portray the character of Erika Salumäe, a testament to the film's commitment to authenticity and realism.
