Swedish alpine coach ahead of the Olympic slalom: "Plan that suits our girls"

The Swedish women's alpine team prepares for the slalom event at the upcoming Winter Olympics, with a strategy tailored by their coach, Sacha Sorio.

The Swedish women's alpine skiing team is gearing up for the slalom competition scheduled for this Wednesday in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The team, which includes recent giant slalom silver medalist Sara Hector, Anna Swenn-Larsson, Hanna Aronsson Elfman, and debutante Cornelia Öhlund, has an advantageous setup for the second run of the event. Coach Sacha Sorio will be setting the course for the second run, which is seen as a potential advantage for the Swedish skiers, according to head coach Charlie Laband.

Laband indicated that the skiers are looking for specific conditions that would play to their strengths, especially after evaluating their performance this season. He noted that the team has struggled with tight turns during races, so they are hoping for a course design that allows them to execute their skills, particularly in making turns. Although Laband recognized that having familiarity with the course isn’t a definitive advantage, it could boost the confidence of the athletes ahead of the competition.

The women's slalom event will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday and will be broadcasted on SVT. As the start numbers are going to be determined on Tuesday, the team is looking to finalize their strategy and preparations in anticipation of the race. This Olympic event is significant for the athletes, as they aim to showcase their skills on an international platform, with hopes of achieving success in a highly competitive environment.
