The upcoming conference titled "The Effects of Overweight on Humans and Society" will take place on February 18 at the Riigikogu conference hall in Estonia. It has been organized by the Social Committee of the Riigikogu in collaboration with the Estonian Association for Weight Management and the Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers. Signe Riisalo, the chairperson of the Social Committee, emphasizes that obesity is increasingly becoming a significant public health, economic, and societal issue that requires effective strategies for prevention, treatment, and policy-making.
