Even 200 PLN more per month. ZUS recalculates pensions. The conclusion on March 31

The Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) is set to recalculate pensions for individuals who received or recalculated their pensions in June between 2009-2019, potentially increasing their payments by over 200 PLN monthly due to previously less favorable rules.

The Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) is currently in the process of recalculating pensions for pensioners who had their benefits granted or recalculated in June during the years 2009 to 2019. These individuals were at a disadvantage because the pension indexation rules applied during that period were less favorable than those during other months. As a result, the pensions of these beneficiaries were lower compared to those who retired in other months or who received family pensions following the same rules.

Starting from January 1, 2026, a new law mandates that ZUS recalculates pension amounts for these retirees based on updated and more advantageous criteria. ZUS has announced that the current recalculations for June pensions will apply the same rules used for determining May pensions, provided this adjustment is beneficial, and will continue to index the benefits up to the present day. Additionally, ZUS will inform pensioners of their new benefit amounts through official notifications.

This recalculation could result in significant financial relief for many pensioners, with expectations that some might see increases of over 200 PLN per month. As awareness of these changes spreads, it is anticipated that a notable number of individuals affected will benefit from this adjustment, further highlighting the ongoing efforts to improve pension conditions in Poland and rectify past inequities in the pension system.
