Edmonton police seek public help on investigation into fatal shooting
Edmonton police are asking for public assistance in gathering information related to a fatal shooting that occurred on the city's north side.
Edmonton police have appealed to the public for information regarding a fatal shooting that took place on the north side of the city on Monday afternoon. Officers were dispatched around 1:45 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the vicinity of 109 Street and 166 Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered an injured man who was quickly taken to a hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Witness Romer Gamalo described the chaotic scene, noting that he thought the driver of a slowly moving car might have been experiencing a medical emergency when the vehicle hit a ditch. It was later revealed through police investigation that the situation was far more severe, as authorities confirmed it was indeed a gunshot incident. In the aftermath, police went door to door in the neighborhood to gather information, leading to further inquiries about the shooting.
As the investigation unfolds, a truck with a shattered window and apparent bullet holes was seen cordoned off by police, indicating that it may be relevant to the case. An autopsy for the victim has been scheduled for later in the week, which will likely provide more insight into the incident and assist authorities in determining the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
