PF investigates leak of data from STF ministers; operation targets Federal Revenue employees

The Federal Police of Brazil has launched an operation against public servants for allegedly leaking confidential data of Supreme Court ministers and their relatives.

On Tuesday, the Brazilian Federal Police (PF) initiated an operation targeting four public servants due to alleged leaks of confidential information regarding ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and their families. This operation came as a result of a representation from the Attorney General's Office and received authorization from STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The Federal Police executed search and seizure warrants across multiple locations including Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Guarujá, and São José do Rio Preto in São Paulo.

According to the STF, this investigation stems from an ongoing inquiry into misinformation, also led by Minister Moraes, which seeks to determine the details surrounding the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive data involving the Supreme Ministers and the Attorney General of the Republic. The STF has expressed concern that there have been numerous illicit accesses to the Federal Revenue's systems, leading to the leakage of confidential information that should be protected under privacy laws.

The operation reflects the growing scrutiny and protective measures being taken by Brazilian authorities to safeguard sensitive governmental data and maintain the integrity of judicial operations amid increasing concerns over data security within public sector systems. The implications of these actions are significant as they suggest a heightened response to potential breaches of trust within government ranks, particularly in the context of misinformation and external influence affecting judicial processes.
