This agreement was formalized during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Addis Ababa, where he met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The Turkish Ministry of Energy announced that a memorandum of understanding concerning energy collaboration was one of the major outcomes of this visit.

The signed agreements emphasize joint projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency. Turkey and Ethiopia are set to collaborate in the production and installation of hydroelectric power station equipment and electrical turbines, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
