Androulakis: Mr. Mitsotakis' achievements concern the oligarchs, not society

Nikos Androulakis criticizes Prime Minister Mitsotakis for prioritizing oligarchs' interests over the needs of the Greek population in a recent interview.

In a recent interview with Lukia Gatsou on Kontra, the President of Pasok-Kinal, Nikos Androulakis, responded to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' assertion that the choice facing voters is between the New Democracy party and chaos. Androulakis questioned the Prime Minister's claims of societal achievements, highlighting that many Greeks struggle with one of the lowest purchasing powers in the European Union. He pointed out that Greeks are burdened by some of the highest rents and private health expenditures in Europe, arguing that these challenges demonstrate a failure to address the public's needs.

Androulakis emphasized that the only beneficiaries of Mitsotakis' policies are the oligarchs, stating that the significant gains made under the current leadership primarily serve their interests rather than those of citizens. He argued that the governmental focus on oligopoly and corporate interests has led to the decline of essential public services, such as education and healthcare, which should be prioritized for the well-being of the general population. He also mentioned that many Greeks feel increasingly disenfranchised by the economic policies currently in place.

Reinforcing the position of Pasok as a viable alternative to New Democracy, Androulakis asserted that his party is the only one capable of promoting political change and bringing the ruling party into opposition. He called on voters to support Pasok in the upcoming elections to ensure a government that prioritizes the interests of the people and addresses the pressing economic issues they face, rather than focusing on the welfare of a select elite group.
