Mocidade Alegre is the champion of the SP carnival and wins the 13th title
Mocidade Alegre claimed victory at the São Paulo Carnival, securing their 13th title in a close competition.
Mocidade Alegre has been crowned the champion of the São Paulo Carnival for the 13th time, winning with a score of 269.8 after a tense announcement of results at the Anhembi Sambadrome. This victory makes Mocidade Alegre the second most successful samba school in São Paulo's carnival history, just behind the renowned Vai-Vai school. The competition was intense, with Gaviões da Fiel finishing a close second with 269.7 points and Dragões da Real coming in third with 269.6 points.
The school’s theme this year, "Malunga Léa - Rapsódia de uma Deusa Negra," celebrated the actress Léa Garcia, acclaiming her contributions and highlighting themes of black prominence and pioneering in Brazilian culture. Notable personalities, including former Big Brother Brasil contestants Fred Nicácio and Thelminha, participated in the parade, adding star power to the event. Mociadade Alegre showcased their intricate performances right after their impressive run in 2025, where they finished in fourth place.
The anticipation and celebration following their victory were palpable, with the president of the samba school, Solange Cruz, expressing immense pride in the achievement. Their win not only boosts the profile of Mocidade Alegre but also underscores the importance of carnival as a cultural institution that celebrates diversity, artistry, and community in Brazil. This year's festival brought together various social narratives and expressions, further enriching the significance of the carnival beyond mere competition.
