A munck truck got stuck under a railway overpass in downtown Sorocaba, Brazil, causing temporary traffic disruptions and prompting a fine for the driver.
A munck truck became stuck under a railway overpass located on Avenida General Osório at the intersection with Avenida Afonso Vergueiro in downtown Sorocaba around 8 AM on Tuesday, impacting local traffic. Fortunately, the truck was empty at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported. The local authorities, through the Secretary of Mobility (Semob), quickly dispatched another munck truck to assist in removing the stuck vehicle, which was accomplished by around 11 AM.
During the time that the truck was immobilized, traffic on the affected street was blocked, necessitating the presence of traffic agents to manage the flow of vehicles in the area. It was highlighted that the maximum height permitted for vehicles under the overpass is 3.40 meters, and there are signs indicating this limit. The incident drew attention to the importance of adherence to traffic regulations and the consequences that can ensue when they are violated.
The truck driver was fined 195.23 BRL for the serious infraction which, according to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), also results in the loss of five points on the driver's license. In response to this event, Semob stated that height limiters have been installed at four locations to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to maintain traffic safety and compliance with regulations in Sorocaba.
