Director of the Ministry of Interior Health Insurance Company Kostka Resigns

David Kostka, the director of the Health Insurance Company of the Ministry of Interior in the Czech Republic, has announced his resignation for personal reasons effective at the end of April 2023.

David Kostka, the General Director of the Health Insurance Company of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic (ZPMV), has officially announced his resignation, effective at the end of April. This news was reported by Seznam Zprávy, citing a spokesperson for the insurance company, who indicated that Kostka is stepping down for personal reasons. The ZPMV is currently the second-largest health insurance provider in the country, serving over 1.3 million clients.

In response to Kostka's resignation, Martin Vondrášek, the chairman of the board of directors and police president, has called for an extraordinary meeting next week. This meeting aims to establish and announce the conditions for a new director's appointment as soon as possible. Kostka has been at the helm of the health insurance company since 2015, and while the exact reasons for his departure remain undisclosed, previous tensions have been noted between Kostka and the board, which had expressed dissatisfaction with his communication in June of the previous year.

The board reduced Kostka's bonuses at that time, although they clarified that this dissatisfaction did not pertain to his management of the company itself. The health insurance sector is crucial in Czechia, particularly as it affects millions of citizens, and changes in leadership at a major provider like ZPMV could lead to shifts in policy and operations that may impact service delivery and management of health insurance in the country.
