An accident involving a bus and a BRT system has left four people injured in Madureira, Brazil.
On Tuesday afternoon, an accident occurred between a bus and a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Madureira, a neighborhood in the Northern Zone of Rio de Janeiro, leaving four individuals injured. The incident took place near Morro do Cajueiro on Avenida Edgard Romero, where local firefighting teams from Campinho were dispatched to respond to the situation. According to Mobi-Rio, the bus from line 298 (Acari to Centro) ran a red light and collided with the BRT vehicle.
Emergency services transported the injured individuals to two hospitals in the area—Salgado Filho, located in Méier, and Lourenço Jorge, situated in Barra da Tijuca. Among the injured were two men and one woman who sustained minor injuries, while another woman suffered more serious, moderate injuries. The collision highlights the ongoing concerns regarding traffic safety and adherence to signals in urban transit systems, especially in busy areas like Madureira.

As the city continues to expand its public transportation systems, addressing these issues becomes increasingly critical to prevent similar incidents in the future.
