Man arrested after hiding in a chicken coop during drug trafficking operation in Arraial do Cabo
A man was arrested after attempting to hide in a chicken coop during a crackdown on drug trafficking in Arraial do Cabo, Brazil.
On Tuesday, a joint operation by the Civil and Military Police in Arraial do Cabo, located in the Lagos region of Rio de Janeiro, targeted a residence suspected of being a drug storage facility. The operation, which commenced around 7 AM, was prompted by tips regarding illicit drug activities at the house on Rua Villasboas. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers noticed a suspect inside the house along with bags of drugs clearly visible on the bed.
As the police moved in, two men attempted to escape through a window; one managed to flee into the nearby woods, while the other tried to evade capture by seeking refuge in a chicken coop. This latter individual was apprehended and found with significant quantities of drugs, including 121 bags of cocaine, 27 packages of marijuana, and 48 parcels of hashish. Additionally, police seized 11 ecstasy pills, R$ 6 in cash, three cell phones, a credit card belonging to another person, and the suspect's identity documents.
The operation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating drug trafficking in the area, highlighting the urgent need for continued efforts against organized crime.
