Historic Performance of Lithuania's Figure Skating Representative at the Olympics – M. Variakojytė Competes in the Short Program

18-year-old M. Variakojytė is the first Lithuanian athlete to compete in the women’s figure skating event at the Olympics, marking a significant milestone for Lithuania in this sport.

M. Variakojytė, an 18-year-old from Kaunas, is making history as the first Lithuanian female athlete to participate in the Olympics' women's figure skating event. Previously, Lithuania was only represented in ice dance pairs at the Olympic Games. This year, she will compete in the short program scheduled to begin at 19:45 local time in Lithuania, where she will be the third skater to take the ice out of five in her group. In total, 29 female athletes will participate in this competition, and only 24 will advance to the free skate programme on February 19, where medals will be awarded.
