'Violent' prisoner due for deportation escapes custody for second time in a week
Police are searching for Daniel Boakye, a violent prisoner scheduled for deportation, who escaped custody from a hospital in London for the second time within a week.
Daniel Boakye, a 21-year-old prisoner with gang affiliations, has made a second escape from custody, raising concerns over the security measures in place. Having already escaped from West Middlesex University Hospital on February 10, he was apprehended later at an address in Thamesmead but then fled again while receiving medical attention in Lewisham, south London.
The recent incidents have caught the attention of the prison service and the Metropolitan Police, who are currently investigating how Boakye managed to slip away from authorities during medical transfers. His violent background and gang connections further complicate the situation, prompting heightened police efforts and public awareness in the areas surrounding his last known locations.
Authorities are emphasizing the urgency of his capture due to his status as a dangerous individual with imminent deportation to Ghana. This situation not only reflects on the challenges within the custodial system but also highlights concerns regarding public safety and the effectiveness of security protocols during hospital visits for inmates.
