The Latvian Revenue Service (VID) has initiated an assessment of the 'Sofi' animal assistance fund in light of its 2024 report, examining whether the organization has used its assets and financial resources in alignment with its stated objectives. The commission's preliminary findings have indicated discrepancies in how funds have been utilized. Inese Bindemane, the Deputy Director of the Tax Department at VID, emphasized that the agency's goal is not punitive but to ensure compliance with regulations governing public benefit organizations.
