Investigators have uncovered a ticket fraud scheme that cost the Louvre nearly $12 million over a decade, involving reused tickets and bribery of museum staff.
When Louvre staff in Paris became suspicious of a couple of tour guides reacquiring tickets at the end of 2024, they stumbled upon a vast fraud network that had swindled the museum for nearly $12 million over the past ten years. The investigation revealed that these guides had been reusing tickets multiple times, bribing museum employees, and dividing groups of tourists to evade extra charges for larger parties. This extensive operation allowed for an estimated 20 fraudulent groups to visit the museum daily.
