Wedding in a special place: Club fans can wed in the Max Morlock Stadium
Starting in April, fans of FC Nürnberg will be able to have civil weddings at the Max Morlock Stadium, becoming the first outdoor civil ceremony location in Nuremberg.
Beginning in April, the Max Morlock Stadium, home of the 1. FC Nürnberg football club, will become an official wedding venue, allowing fans to celebrate their marriages in the stadium. This initiative is part of a growing trend where football stadiums across Germany serve as unique wedding venues, providing fans a special way to honor their allegiance to their beloved clubs. Locations such as those in Bremen, Mönchengladbach, Bochum, and Essen already offer similar services.
For the wedding ceremony, couples will enter the stadium in a wedding car, reminiscent of how players arrive in the team bus. The ceremony will take place on the field, where a registrar will officiate the wedding, enhancing the experience with the ambiance of a football match. As part of the package, couples can choose to have their pictures displayed on the stadium's electronic boards, making for a memorable visual keepsake.
The city has set the fee for this unique wedding experience at 500 Euros, which is slightly higher than traditional venues like the Kaiserburg that charge 420 Euros. Mayor Marcus König endorsed the initiative, expressing excitement for fans who will now have the chance to seal their love in the stadium, creating a community-based and emotive link between their love lives and their support for the football club.
