Man armed with knife forces bus driver to change route to commit robbery in Santarém
A man armed with a knife forced a bus driver to alter his route during a robbery in Santarém, Brazil, stealing several cell phones before fleeing the scene.
On the night of Monday, the 16th, in Santarém, Pará, a man armed with a knife boarded a bus and committed a robbery. The bus was en route to Residential Salvação when the suspect threatened the driver and demanded that he change the regular route to follow an alternate path. According to a witness, the robber stole at least three cell phones from the passengers during the incident.
After the robbery, the assailant exited the vehicle in the Nova Moaçara area of the Espírito Santo neighborhood and the police were notified. The Military Police responded promptly, detaining a suspect; however, the victims were unable to identify him as the perpetrator of the crime. The incident has been documented at the 16th Urban Section of Santarém for further legal proceedings.
In a statement, a local transportation company, Viação Transportes Urbanos, confirmed that a cell phone belonging to a passenger was taken during the robbery.
