Prosecutors have charged a murder in Helsinki's Pikku Huopalahti

Prosecutors have formally charged a 1966-born individual with murder following a shooting incident in Pikku Huopalahti, Helsinki, last autumn.

Prosecutors in Finland have filed charges against a man born in 1966 for murder, stemming from an incident that took place in the autumn of last year in Pikku Huopalahti, a district of Helsinki. The charges were submitted to the Helsinki District Court on Tuesday, detailing that the murder occurred shortly after midnight in October 2025. The accused reportedly used a firearm within a private residence, leading to the fatality of a man born in 1974.

Alongside the murder charge, the accused faces additional charges including illegal possession of a firearm, the possession of a dangerous object, drug-related offenses, and making illegal threats to another individual involved in the case. Another person was initially detained in connection with the investigation but was released soon after without any criminal suspicion. A third individual suspected by police is a woman born in 1999.

As part of the legal proceedings, prosecutors have decided not to press charges against four other individuals for aggravated violation of domestic peace, citing insufficient evidence to support the allegations. The main hearing for the case is scheduled to begin at the start of March, with three court sessions allocated for its proceedings, indicating the case’s complexity and the serious nature of the crimes involved.
