AFP: Syria has begun to empty the al-Hol camp of prisoners

Syrian authorities have started evacuating prisoners from the al-Hol camp, which holds individuals linked to ISIS, following the Syrian Democratic Forces' withdrawal.

Syrian authorities have commenced the process of emptying the al-Hol camp, a facility notorious for housing individuals associated with the Islamic State (ISIS). This move comes after Syrian forces regained control of the camp, previously managed by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who have recently withdrawn from the area. The al-Hol camp, along with Roj camp, is home to over 28,000 individuals, with a significant portion being Syrian and Iraqi nationals. Additionally, about 6,000 foreign nationals are detained in al-Hol while another 2,000 remain in Roj, all of whom are civilians accused of connections to ISIS.
