A major investigation in Lithuania has unveiled the production of large quantities of the psychotropic substance alprazolam, leading to criminal charges against three individuals.
In a significant law enforcement operation, Lithuania's organized crime and corruption investigation unit, led by the Vilnius District Prosecutor's Office, uncovered a laboratory producing substantial amounts of the psychotropic substance alprazolam. This operation, which involved a detailed pre-trial investigation, has resulted in the case being handed over to the court for prosecution. The authorities are unveiling the extent of organized drug production in the country.
During a press conference, officials, including Nėrijus Puškorius, the chief prosecutor of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division, revealed that the three accused individuals operated within a criminal group and were involved in manufacturing, acquiring, and possessing a staggering 4.7 kilograms of alprazolam. The amount significantly exceeds the threshold that would trigger criminal liability, which is just half a gram.
