Tower: Arrest of 13-year-olds for hitting other minors
Three 13-year-olds were arrested in Pyrgos, Greece, for assaulting two other minors in an incident near a church.
In Pyrgos, Ilia, Greek law enforcement has arrested three minors aged 13 on charges of physical assault. The arrests occurred early on a Monday, following a report by the father of two other boys aged 13 and 17, who alleged that the arrested minors attacked his sons in the courtyard of a church. The father claimed his children were punched in the face and body, resulting in bodily harm.
The police have prepared a case file against the three minors, which will be forwarded to the prosecutor of the Primary Court of Ilia. In addition to the minors' arrests, the authorities also detained the parents of the three assailants, citing neglect of supervision. This aspect raises concerns about parental responsibility and oversight regarding juvenile behavior in the community.
Moreover, the case highlights issues of youth violence and the necessary interventions required to address such behaviors at an early age. A forensic examination has been ordered for the two victims to assess the injuries sustained during the altercation, further emphasizing the seriousness of the incident and the need for a thorough legal process.
