The annual Lunar New Year special program 'Chunwan', which consistently garners high viewership in China, became a platform for showcasing cutting-edge human-like robotics this year. Broadcast on the night of the 16th, the program featured leading Chinese robotics companies like Unitree and others, illustrating China's ambition in humanoid robot technology and future manufacturing industries. The performance vividly captured China's technological advancements as human-like robots showcased their skills alongside martial arts students, demonstrating complex martial movements while emulating human actions.

Unitree's humanoid robots performed a variety of martial art moves, including using swords, staffs, and nunchaku, adeptly executing intricate combat movements. Notably, the robots demonstrated the ability to control multiple machines simultaneously and could rise independently after falling—an impressive indicator of their sophistication. Last year's Chunwan featured Unitree’s H1 robots performing traditional Chinese dance, showcasing significant advancements in the robustness of their movements and functions in just one year.

In addition to Unitree, another highlight was the biomimetic robots from Songyan Dynamics, which provided a comedic performance alongside live actors, creating an illusion that blurred the line between robot and human. One of the robots closely replicated an actress playing a grandmother, making distinction challenging. Other companies like Yinhaitongyong and Magic Atom also contributed performances, emphasizing advances in domestic chores and even presenting a panda-shaped quadrupedal robot in a synchronized march, showcasing the breadth of innovation and the future potential of robotics in entertainment and everyday life.
