Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune met with Nigerien President General Abdourahamane Tiani to discuss enhancing political and economic cooperation between their countries. Their discussions led to practical steps, notably the announcement that the works on the Nigerien section of the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline would commence following Ramadan. This project, which connects Nigeria to Algeria through Niger, is considered one of the most significant energy projects in the region.

In addition to energy initiatives, the talks included plans for infrastructure improvements, such as strengthening the railway link between the two nations. There were also social and educational initiatives discussed, including the expansion of the Algerian-Nigerien Friendship Secondary School in the Zinder region, as well as the establishment of health and training centers in various areas to foster development and cooperation.

Moreover, the leaders addressed the regional situation in the Sahel, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and coordination to tackle security challenges in the area. They affirmed the necessity to respect national sovereignty and avoided military interventions in resolving crises, a nod to recent political developments in Niger over the past year that have highlighted the complexities of regional security dynamics.
