The fire ignited unexpectedly while he was driving on National Highway 130 near the village of Navapara (Kapa) around 5 PM. As he tried to open the door to escape, he found it jammed, but in a split-second decision, he opened the window glass and leapt out, narrowly avoiding the flames that caught on his shirt and pants.

Witnesses to the incident stopped to help, and immediately called for emergency services by dialing 112. Meanwhile, Sahu quickly extinguished the flames on his clothes to prevent severe injury. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Podi Uproda health center for treatment. The car, on the other hand, was completely consumed by fire and became a total loss, highlighting the suddenness and danger of such vehicular fires.
