OP Rajbhar, an influential political leader, has announced a crucial amendment concerning the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) workers. The revision aims to provide additional benefits to laborers when their wages are not disbursed on time. Previously, these workers received no extra compensation for delayed payments, potentially leaving them in difficult financial situations.

The recent changes introduced in the bill, fondly referred to as the 'Ji Ram Ji Bill', now stipulate that if wages are not paid to MGNREGA laborers within a week of their due date, they will be entitled to receive interest on their pending wages. This move is expected to empower laborers by offering them some financial security and encouraging timely payments from employers, particularly in rural and underdeveloped regions where such support is critical.
