A yellow weather warning has been issued for snow in certain regions of Møre og Romsdal and Nordfjord in Norway. From Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning, snowfall is expected to accumulate between 10 and 25 centimeters across the Northwest region. Meteorologists have jokingly suggested that this could tempt some residents to take a skiing trip amidst the forecasted conditions. However, they also caution travelers to prepare for potential delays in air traffic and public transport due to the weather, urging people to check with transport operators and allocate extra time for travel.
The satellite imagery indicates that a low-pressure system has a long frontal zone that is currently positioned just off the coast, slowly moving eastward and bringing additional snowfall to many areas. The cold snap is contributing to one of the chilliest beginnings of February in over a decade, with temperatures plunging significantly across the northern parts of Norway. Rassegalvarri recorded the lowest temperature at minus 20.9 degrees Celsius during the night, while Tamokdalen followed closely at minus 20.2 degrees Celsius. Conversely, Værøy in Nordland experienced the highest temperature of the night at 3.3 degrees Celsius.
As the weather continues to hold significant changes, citizens are reminded to stay updated on meteorological announcements and adjustments to travel plans. The locals are advised to brace for the cold and ensure they take necessary precautions while navigating the snowy conditions that are forecasted to persist, making this a noteworthy winter weather event for the region.
