From Rehabilitation in Poland to Proton Therapy in Denmark: Where Lithuanians Go for Treatment

Lithuanian patients are increasingly utilizing healthcare services in other EU countries as they seek rehabilitation and specialized treatments.

Lithuanian citizens are exploring healthcare options abroad, particularly within the European Union. With a doctor’s referral, patients can opt for planned outpatient, inpatient, rehabilitation, or other healthcare services in EU states as well as in Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway. This choice allows them access to both public and private healthcare facilities abroad. Patients are responsible for covering the costs of these services upfront, but they can later apply for reimbursement from the State Patient Fund (VLK) within one year of receiving treatment.
