Faust's News Piece: Comfort for the People Burdened by a Heavy Life and Social Guilt
Maria Faust's latest work offers comfort to people weighed down by their difficult lives and societal guilt following the aftermath of populism and propaganda.
Maria Faust, a musician and composer, discusses her latest work, which aims to provide solace to individuals who bear the burden of a challenging existence compounded by societal guilt that often follows the fallout from populism or propaganda. Faust recently received the IV class Order of the White Star and the first-class Knight's Cross of the Order of Dannebrog, officially earning her the title of knight. This rare recognition among jazz musicians in Denmark underscores her unique contributions to the field, as only a handful have received such honors.
In an interview on "Vikerhommikus," Faust emphasized the selective nature of the award, which is a decision made by the Danish monarchy, pointing out that among the many talented jazz musicians in Denmark, only five have been recognized with this prestigious award, highlighting the significance of her achievement as a woman in a predominantly male-dominated genre. She elaborated on the process behind the selection, noting that it involves a royal choice and a specific list that presumably determines the recipients.
Maria Faust is set to present her new piece titled "The March of Lies," alongside the Estonian Defence Forces Orchestra and the Collegium Musicale chamber choir at a concert in Tallinn. During this event, she will also receive a third award, further marking her impressive accomplishments in the musical field and her impactful contribution to addressing societal issues through her artistry.
