Awarding of the Kitzingen Carnival Society: Schlappmaul Order for Katharina Schulze
Katharina Schulze, the Green Party leader in the Bavarian state parliament, has received the Schlappmaul Order from the Kitzingen Carnival Society for her wit and vibrant personality.
Katharina Schulze, the chair of the Green Party in Bavaria's state parliament, has been awarded the prestigious Schlappmaul Order by the Kitzingen Carnival Society (KiKaG) for her remarkable wit and ability to engage with the community. This award was presented to her by last year's winner, comedian Ines Procter, in recognition of Schulze's contributions to the lively festivities of Fasching, where she has become known for her creative costumes.
Every year, Schulze participates in the Fastnacht in Franken at Veitshöchheim, showcasing her unique and imaginative outfits, with this year's theme being 'Ariel the Little Mermaid', accompanied by her party's vice-chair, Johannes Becher, dressed as Sebastian the Crab. The Schlappmaul Order, a bronze award shaped like a mask, has been given out since 1989 to individuals who demonstrate a lighthearted spirit and a strong voice during the carnival season.
The Schlappmaul Committee selected Schulze for her distinctive blend of humor, clarity of expression, and charm. The committee emphasized that her loudness is never disrespectful, highlighting her ability to navigate political discourse with both humor and intelligence. Schulze's recognition marks her as a prominent figure within Bavarian culture and showcases the intersection of politics and local tradition during the festive carnival celebrations.
