The Finnish Tax Administration has announced that individuals can submit their tax information for the year 2025 online as early as now. According to tax inspector Päivi Ylitalo, if taxpayers report their income and deductions by February 23, it will allow the details to be included in the pre-filled tax return forms. This proactive step is said to increase the likelihood that tax processing will be completed sooner, particularly for couples whose tax returns are linked to one another's information.

Tax filings are processed randomly, influenced by various aspects such as a spouse's financial situation. However, if both spouses submit their tax information accurately and on time without requiring deeper scrutiny, the tax processing will likely be expedited. This initiative highlights the importance of early and thorough submission of tax data to ensure timely refunds and easier verification processes.

Additionally, taxpayers can beforehand declare deductions and income that the Finnish Tax Administration may not readily receive information about, including rental income and sales profits from non-securities. Taxpayers are encouraged to utilize this early submission opportunity to streamline the tax return process, reduce delays, and potentially increase the speed at which they receive their tax refunds.
