Russian State Media: Russia Shot Down 151 Ukrainian Drones During Night Attacks
The Russian Ministry reported that its air defense forces shot down 151 Ukrainian drones during nighttime attacks over Russian territories and the Black and Azov seas, with casualties including one child in Sevastopol.
According to the Russian Ministry, during a series of nighttime air defense operations, a total of 151 Ukrainian drones were reportedly shot down over territories controlled by Russia as well as over the Black and Azov Seas. The announcement included information from Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev, who described one of the longest recent attacks, which resulted in several drones being downed. Tragically, this incident led to injuries, including that of a child, highlighting the ongoing toll of the conflict on civilians.
In the context of these military operations, both Russia and Ukraine are set to resume another stage of U.S.-mediated diplomatic discussions. Previous rounds of negotiations facilitated by the U.S. have not resulted in any breakthroughs, emphasizing the complexity of achieving peace amid the ongoing military engagement. This new phase of talks reflects both parties' recognition of the need for dialogue but also underscores the persistent barriers that have so far hindered a resolution.
Despite Russia maintaining control over a significant portion of Ukrainian territory, Ukraine has made notable advances on the battlefield in recent days. Reports indicate that from the previous Wednesday to Sunday, Ukraine reclaimed 201 square kilometers of land, partly due to disruptions to Russian forces' use of Starlink terminals. This success underscores the shifting dynamics of the conflict and raises questions about the sustainability of the current military strategies being employed by both sides.
