Latvian hockey players in the playoffs, bobsledders compete for Olympic medals, biathletes start in the relay

Latvian athletes are participating in crucial Olympic events, including a playoff match for the men's hockey team, as well as relay competitions in biathlon and bobsled.

At the Milan and Cortina Olympic Games, the Latvian men's hockey team is set to compete against Sweden in the playoff round, where they will vie for a spot in the quarterfinals. This high-stakes match will take place at the Milano Santagiulia arena at 22:10 Latvian time, with the winner advancing to face the USA in the next stage. The Latvian team has had a challenging tournament thus far, losing their opening match against the USA but bouncing back with a win against Germany, only to face disappointment in a crucial match against Denmark that determined their playoff positioning.

In addition to the hockey playoffs, Latvia's biathlon team will participate in the 4x7.5 kilometers relay scheduled for 15:30 in Anterselva. The team consists of notable athletes Andrejs Rastorgujevs, Renārs Birkentāls, Rihards Lozbers, and Edgars Mise. This event is significant as it showcases the strength and talent of Latvian biathletes on an international stage, following their previous performances in the tournament.

Competing in the bobsled event, the Latvian duo piloted by Jēkabs Kalenda and pushed by Matīss Miknis are also set to race in the final two heats at 20:00 and 22:05 in Cortina d'Ampezzo. These Olympic events are pivotal for the athletes, as they not only seek to win medals but also to demonstrate Latvia's capabilities in winter sports. The competitions will be broadcast live on the LTV7 channel, allowing fans to support their teams during these critical moments.
